David Riley grew up in Mangere, South Auckland. He attended the University of Auckland where he graduated with a Masters in Social Anthropology. He has over 20 years” experience as a high school Drama and English teacher. He”s also worked as a researcher and journalist and writes books and reading resources for teachers, parents and young people. Three of his books have won awards including Cook Islands Heroes which won a 2018 Storylines Notable Books Award. David lives in Manukau, South Auckland, with his wife who is Samoan and also a teacher and their two daughters.
