Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru shaped the Indian fight for independence against the British rule. In spite of their different personalities, they complemented each other in their goals of a freed India and the construction of a modern Indian State.
Through their great personalities the work presents the history of the world?s largest democracy. The book begins at the height of Colonialism at the start of the 20th century, and leads through the long process of independence up to the founding of the modern and democratic state. New aspects and facets in the work of these two founders of India, as in the development of India in the 20th century are introduced.
Both figures of Indian history will remain well remembered in the future.
