Erwin Schrödinger, geboren 1887 in Wien, gestorben 1961 in Wien, war Professor für Physik in Zürich, Berlin, Oxford, Graz, Dublin und ab 1956 in Wien. Wegweisend waren seine Erkenntnisse auf den Gebieten von Wellenmechanik, relativistischer Quantentheorie, Gravitationstheorie und einheitlicher Feldtheorie. Für seinen Beitrag zur Quantentheorie erhielt er mit Paul Dirac 1933 den Nobelpreis.
