Jan Söffner holds the chair of cultural theory and cultural analysis at Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen. After studying German and Italian in Cologne, he worked at the Romance Seminar there, the Center for Literary and Cultural Research (Zf L) in Berlin, the International Center for Advanced Studies Morphomata in Cologne, the Italian Seminar at the University of Tübingen, and as editor in chief at the academic publisher Wilhelm Fink. He has written monographs on Giovanni Boccaccio”s Decameron (dissertation, 2005), on the literary theory of embodiment (2014), on metaphor theory (2015), and on George RR Martin”s Song of Ice and Fire (2017).
