Providing 16 stories told from different perspectives, the book covers social and emotional concerns around far-ranging issues, including refugees, disability, gender diversity and climate change. For each issue raised, the story is followed by a fact file, a set of interactive activities, lesson plans and a bank of resources to further enhance understanding and promote empathy.

Professor Helen Cowie is Emeritus Professor at the University of Surrey, MA, MSc, Ph D, FBPS, PGCE, Dip in Psychotherapy. For over 25 years she has specialized in strategies to counteract school bullying. Dr Harriet Tenenbaum, Ph D is a Reader in Developmental Psychology at the University of Surrey. Harriet’s research interests include how children learn from everyday interactions with others, such as conversations with parents and peers and peer rejection. Dr Ffion Jones, Ph D English Literature (Bangor) is a children’s author and illustrator.
