Itzchak Weismann is Professor of Islamic studies and Director of the Jewish-Arab Center at Haifa University. He is the author of Taste of Modernity: Sufism, Salafiyya, and Arabism in Late Ottoman Damascus and The Naqshbandiyya: Orthodoxy and Activism in a Worldwide Sufi Tradition. His research interests include the Salafis, Islamic movements in the Middle East and South Asia, Sufism, modern Islamic thought and interfaith dialogue.
