Herlock Sholmes and his partner Wilson are called to France to investigate the case of the Blonde Lady, but their past encounter with Lupin adds an extra layer of intrigue. With a chance for revenge against Lupin, Sholmes eagerly accepts the assignment. In the previous book, Arsène Lupin, Gentleman Burglar, there was a short story called ‘Sherlock Holmes Arrives Too Late’, but after protests from Arthur Conan Doyle’s lawyers, the name was changed in this book to Herlock Sholmes.
