Born in Durban to British parents, in 1990. A Mandela Rhodes Scholar, he is the recipient of the 2016 Thomas Pringle Award for short fiction, as well as the 2014 National Arts Festival Short Sharp Stories Award. His fiction has been shortlisted for the White Review Prize in the UK and Ireland, in 2015. Mugrew if the autor of two previous books, including Stations, which was longlisted for the Edge Hill Short Story prize in the UK. He currently lives in Cape Town, where he works as a writer and as the director of the award -winning poetry press, uHlanga.
