This is an irreverent survival guide for new teachers. The focus is on retelling mythic stories that display our humanity and enhance our empathic nature by giving free reign to the comedic side of our personality. In other words humor has a place in our lives and can be harnessed to help us survive the challenges of the secondary classroom. Robert Livingston was a high school history teacher in Los Angeles for thirty-seven years. He taught U.S. History and Government, Economics and Comparative Religions. In retirement, he joined a local Kiwanis Club and supervised three high school Key Clubs. He is currently working on a novel of historical fiction concerning the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
