LAÍSE RODRIGUES has enjoyed drawing since she was a little girl, so much so that she graduated in Fine Arts and soon began creating illustrations professionally. As an illustrator, she has worked for some of Brazil’s leading magazines and has illustrated children’s books for various publishers. Currently, she also dedicates herself to writing and illustrating her own books, always with children in mind. For more than two decades, she has dedicated herself to children’s and young adult literature, writing beautiful picture books. Her work is recognized by the Brazilian Ministry of Education and her books have been distributed to schools all over the country. Laíse is also a collector of miniature toys and has one of the largest toy collections in Brazil, a record of the childhood’s history in Brazil.
Through Pangolin Books, Laíse has published seven books in partnership with her husband, TONI RODRIGUES: the award-winning ‘There are animals that.. Collection’ (made up of four titles and with more than 120, 000 copies sold) and ‘Toy animal, real animal’ – books for babies that are a great success. Her juveniles ‘And when you grow up, what will you be?’ and ‘A monster in my room’ also appeal to children who can already read.
Laíse received the Nature Inside seal for her concern for bringing children closer to nature through literature, promoting environmental education full of meaning from an early age.
