A large number of advanced materials have been developed in the recent years to target specific applications. The generation of such functional materials stems from the significant advancements attained with respect to the tuning of synthesis, morphology as well as structure-property correlations. Examples of such materials include self-healing materials, ionic liquids, metal/metal oxide nanocomposites, smart textiles, shape memory polymers, energy storage devices, additives for enhanced oil recovery and bio-inspired materials. The book aims to present a variety of such advanced materials by providing both basic information as well as recent developments reported for these materials. The wealth of information pertaining to synthesis, properties and applications of many commercially relevant advanced materials makes the book a valuable asset for a diverse audience ranging from materials, chemical and biochemical engineers as well as practicing scientists in academia and industry to postgraduate university students in various engineering disciplines.
