About the author
Rebecca West (1892-1983) was born Cicely Isabel Fairfield in England. An outstanding journalist, literary critic, and travel writer, as well as a feminist and liberal, West became a foremost intellectual of her time. Henry James was her first book. Her most famous work is Black Lamb and Grey Falcon, a Journey through Yugoslavia.
