About the author

RICHARD MURPHY is a WWII vet and journalist who has written for newspapers and magazines for many years, lives in Texas, and has a great-great-grandfather who was Sam Houston’s aide-de-camp at San Jacinto and a granduncle who was one of the original Texas Rangers. Perhaps this heritage explains his intense interest in history and the Wild West. He resides in San Augustine, Texas with wife Mae, and they have two grown children and three grandchildren. He attended Baylor but has a degree in English-History from Lamar University.
