A native of Bangalore, Brinda Charry teaches writing at Syracuse University in upstate New York, where she is pursuing her doctorate in English literature. Her short stories have been published in the Hindu and the Deccan Herald and broadcast on BBC Radio. Since 1998 she has won the Katha Award for Creative Fiction and prizes in the Asian Age Short Story Competition, the Hindu-Pieador Short Story Competition and the Commonwealth Broadcast!ng Association Short Story Competition.
