Edward Spencer Beesly (1831-1915) was an English historian, editor, and advocate of positivism. He translated Auguste Comte into English and wrote a biography of him. Beesly also was an unsuccessful Liberal candidate to Parliament. He is best known today for his collected lectures on Roman history, Catiline, Clodius, Tiberius (1878).
