Bill Fawcett is a professional engineer who has written and lectured extensively on architecture and railways. His previous ten books include the biography of architect G. T. Andrews and a prize-winning account of the early Newcastle & Carlisle Railway. He is a keen observationist, is an adviser to the Railway Heritage Trust and edits the journal York Historian.
