George Park Fisher (1827-1909) was born in Massachusetts. A theologian-historian, he was a noted professor of divinity and ecclesiastical history, and an emeritus professor at Yale. A president of the American Historical Association, he wrote Essay on the Supernatural Origin of Christianity, History of the Reformation, The Beginnings of Christianity, Faith and Rationalism, and Brief History of the Nation, among other works.
