John Braithwaite nació en 1951 en Ipswich, Australia. Es el criminólogo más reconocido de la actualidad, que amplió notablemente el campo de acción de su disciplina. Profesor emérito en la Universidad Nacional de Australia, fundó allí REGNET, red mundial de instituciones, profesionales y académicos que indagan modos de regulación y gobernabilidad que no descuiden los derechos humanos, la justicia y una política ambiental sustentable. Activista de movimientos pacifistas, a favor de las políticas de desarrollo y la democracia participativa, investiga las actividades comerciales y financieras, así como la prevención del delito y la reintegración social. Entre sus obras se destacan Crime, Shame and Restoration, Restorative Justice and Responsive Regulation e Information Feudalism. Philip Pettit nacido en Irlanda, es uno de los principales estudiosos en las áreas de teoría moral y política, y extiende su campo a principios fundamentales de la filosofía del conocimiento y de la metafísica. Fue docente en Dublín y Bradford e investigador en Cambridge, antes de pasar a la Escuela de Investigación en Ciencias Sociales de la Universidad Nacional de Australia, donde enseñó Teoría Social y Política y Filosofía y es profesor emérito. Además, dictó Política y Valores Humanos en la Universidad de Princeton. Es integrante de numerosas academias europeas y recibió distinciones en todos los continentes. Entre sus libros recientes se destacan The Common Mind, Republicanism y Penser en société.
