Copenhagen has long been celebrated for its unique fashion, design, innovation, and sustainability practices, and yet there has never been a comprehensive history of Copenhagen fashion and its current innovation and sustainability drive.
This book fills that gap, assembling a multidisciplinary roster of contributors to examine all aspects of Copenhagen fashion and culture. Grounded in a broad context of Danish culture, industry, media, technology, sustainability, and innovation practices within the wider cultural and economic fields of fashion, the book helps us understand what makes Copenhagen unique.

Despre autor
Katrina Sark is an associate professor in the Department of Media, Design, Learning, and Cognition at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). She specializes in cultural analysis, cultural history, media, gender studies, sustainability and decoloniality. She is the founder of the Canadian Fashion Scholars Network, the co-founder of the Urban Chic book series, and the co-author of Berliner Chic: A Locational History of Berlin Fashion (Intellect Books, 2011), Montréal Chic: A Locational History of Montreal Fashion (Intellect Books, 2016), and Copenhagen Chic: A Locational History of Copenhagen Fashion (Intellect Books, 2023). Her other publications include Branding Berlin (Routledge, 2023), Social Justice Pedagogies (Toronto University Press, 2023), a Special Issue on ‘Ethical Fashion and Empowerment’ in Clothing Cultures (2021), as well as chapters in Cultural Topographies of the New Berlin (Berghahn, 2017) and World Film Locations: Berlin (Intellect Books, 2012). She is the creator of Chic podcast, dedicated to fashion, design, culture, sustainability, decoloniality, media and technology.
