Death in Alkali Flat is the story of a remarkably accomplished youth known only as Sleeper. It is his misfortune to buy a key chain from a pawnbroker that opens a box that contains a map to a notorious outlaw’s cache.
The story was originally published under the title “Sun and Sand” in Western Story Magazine in 1935 with the main character’s name written as Jigger.
