A synergy between academia and activism has long been a goal of both scholars and advocacy organizations in communications research. Phil Napoli, former Director of Fordham’s Mc Gannon Center for Communications Research, is James R. Shepley Professor of Public Policy at Duke University. He is the author of three books, most recently Audience Evolution: New Technologies and the Transformation of Media Audiences (Columbia University Press, 2011).
