The author of Leftover in China is an American journalist who has lived in China for five years. She visited several "leftover women" and presented the real story of four unmarried white-collar women in the book. Through their own difficulties and choices, she outlined the real face of China’s "the era of leftover women". So as to further explore the social problems China will encounter in the future, and help us understand how politics and society shape the life of Chinese women and what it means to the world. In Leftover in China, four women’s stories with different situations are integrated into different chapters: leftover women who can’t find their boyfriends because of their doctoral degree, leftover women who no longer believe in marriage, leftover women who have to become leftover women to seek a better life, leftover women who have to endure all kinds of dating methods in order to please their mothers.
