Twelve Years a Slave is from Solomon’s personal experience.He was originally a free black man living in New York, but later kidnapped and then began his slave life.The publication of this book has affected the Anti-slavery Movement in the United States and the modern history of the United States, being included in the textbooks of American history and the required bibliography of students. Another famous work titled Uncle Tom’s Cabin and it are collectively called the immortal classics of pushing the process of the abolition.The place where Solomon Northup was sent was where Uncle Tom was imprisoned in the novel; Northup’s description of the life and events there is surprisingly similar to the story in my novel.–Mrs. Stowe (Uncle Tom’s Cabin)
