To The Lighthouse is a 1927 novel by Virginia Woolf which tells the story of the Ramsay family. The book recounts the family’s trips to the Isle of Skye in Scotland, and recalls childhood emotions as well as adult relationships. The book is in three parts, the second one taking place ten years after the first. There is no main narrator, instead, the book is told through the perspectives of each character’s consciousness, shifting from one to another, sometimes in mid-sentence. In 2005, To The Lighthouse was chosen by TIME magazine as one of the one hundred best English-language novels since 1923.
