It is considered comical only in the negative sense of having a pleasant ending and is a proper history dramatized in chronicle form. It is viewed as an emulation of Marlowe’s tragedy Tamburlaine. Although its fame never rivaled Marlowe’s tragedy, it undoubtedly aimed to rival his work.
