Manifeste des Diskurspop

Etwa 100 Jahre nach dem ersten futuristischen Manifest, das den Auftakt für eine ganze Reihe avantgardistischer Programmschriften bedeutete, bedienen sich deutschsprachige Pop-Gruppen wie Tocotronic, Locas In Love und Ja, Panik erneut der Textsorte. Titel wie »Kapitulation« und »The Angst and the Money« lassen schon erahnen, dass es sich hierbei kaum um selbstbewusste Kampfansagen handelt, wie es »Musik ist eine Waffe!« von Ton Steine Scherben noch war. Die Diskurspopgruppen verorten sich mit ihren Manifesten zwischen Kampf und Verweigerung, Innovation und Retromanie, Pop und Politik, Ästhetik und Verkrampfung, Kapitalismuskritik und Business. In kulturpoetischen Analysen wird ein breites Archiv an Pop-Manifesten mitsamt ihren Kontexten in dieser Fülle zum ersten Mal überhaupt erschlossen.





The ‘Manifesto of Futurism’ was first published more than a century ago. Since then, a whole range of avant-garde programmes have followed. There is even a belief that the present is a ‘post-manifesto-era’. Yet German-speaking pop groups, such as Tocotronic, Locas In Love, and Ja, Panik still publish them. With titles like ‘Kapitulation’ and ‘The Angst and the Money’ the bands’ manifestos are distinct for their lack of a call to action. Instead, their publications connect old ideas about imagined futures with a current reality that fails to live up expectations or promise emancipation. This text examines these manifestos, analyzes their contexts and lines of tradition informed by New Historicism and the poetics of culture as well as pop theories.

Dr. Anna Seidel studierte an der Westfälischen Wilhelms-Universität Münster Germanistik und Soziologie, anschließend Komparatistik/Kulturpoetik und wurde ebendort im Fach Deutsche Philologie promoviert. Sie arbeitet als Postdoc am Institut für Germanistik der Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck im Sonderforschungsbereich ‘Transformationen des Populären’.
