Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. As evidence of the widespread interest in Marlowe’s play, it is sufiicient to mention that there are no less than four German translations (muller’s, 1818; B’ottger, 1857; Boden stedt, 1860; V. De Velde, Francois Victor Hugo issued a French version in 1858; a Dutch translation by Modderman was published in 1887.
