É autora de dez obras, incluindo três livros de contos, dois livros infantis e três romances em árabe. Fluente em inglês, ela concluiu seu doutorado em Poesia Clássica Árabe em Edimburgo e leciona na Universidade Sultan Qaboos, em Mascate. «Damas da lua» foi selecionado para o prêmio Sahikh Zayed para jovens escritores e seu romance de 2016, Narinjah, ganhou o prêmio Sultan Qaboos de cultura, arte e literatura. Seus contos foram publicados em inglês, alemão, italiano, coreano e sérvio. A autora venceu com «Damas da lua» o Man International Booker Prize em 2019.
