Aboard the Abraham Lincoln, an American frigate, French oceanographer Pierre Aronnax and his unflappable assistant Conseil assist crew on an expedition in search of a ship-destroying monster. A sudden collision hurls Aronnax, Conseil, and one other crew member into the sea. Once aboard they find themselves captive on the Nautilus.
