Lisa Mc Clain challenges traditional views that Catholicism in the Reformation period should resemble late-medieval Catholicism or post-Tridentine Catholicism, and asserts that new types of religious communities arose with alterations in English Catholics’ beliefs, rituals and devotional practices.
