Mark Sikes has written a tell-all journal of the making of his documentary, Doomed: The Untold Story of Roger Corman’s The Fantastic Four. In 1992, Roger Corman was approached by Bernd Eichinger, who owned the film option for The Fantastic Four. His option was running out at the end of the year so he went to Corman, the King of the B-Movies, to guarantee that he would be in production and retain his option. They made a movie, Sikes was the casting assistant, and then a year later, just as the film was set for release, Marvel came forward and bought up the film. And then they put it on the shelf, never to be seen by anyone in the world. 25 years later, Sikes and director Marty Langford embarked on the bold journey of telling the story of the film and its eventual leak and bootlegging on the black market. They had no money, little time and had to rely on each other for three years to see their documentary released. This is their story.
