Winter 1926, Albany, New York. The nation is in the grip of prohibition.
Corruption and bootleggers proliferate. A local actress is murdered one night

At a dance marathon at Harmanus Bleecker Hall, a second horrendous death
occurs, the victim a relative of Alan Cartwright, assistant manager of the
illustrious showplace. Police embark on an arduous investigation. Doubts and
