Winter 1926, Albany, New York. The nation is in the grip of prohibition.
Corruption and bootleggers proliferate. A local actress is murdered one night
and the city is on high alert.
At a dance marathon at Harmanus Bleecker Hall, a second horrendous death
occurs, the victim a relative of Alan Cartwright, assistant manager of the
illustrious showplace. Police embark on an arduous investigation. Doubts and
suspicions mount and motives and secrets abound. Eager for resolution to the
mysterious death, Alan recruits private investigator Sloane Sheppard, but soon
yet another victim meets a brutal end.
