Nannos Marinatos (Atenas, 1950) ha realizado estudios clásicos y de arqueología en la Universidad de Colorado, Boulder, ha enseñado en la Universidad de Loyola (Chicago) y en la actualidad dirige el Departament of Classics and Mediterranean Studies de la Universidad de Illinois, en la que enseña desde el año 2000. Es autora de, entre otros, diversos estudios sobre la antigüedad en el mundo mediterráneo, con especial atención a la cultura cretense: Thucydides and Religion (1981), The Minoan Thalassocracy: Myth and Reality (con Robin Hagg, 1981), Minoan Religion: Ritual, Image and Symbolism (1993) y el que ahora presentamos en traducción castellana: Minoan Kingship and the Solar Goddess (2010).
