Croatian writer and translator Nikola Šop was born on 19 August 1904 in Jajce (Bosnia and Herzegovina), and died on 2 January 1982 in Zagreb (Croatia). In 1931, he received his diploma in comparative literature and Latin from Faculty of Philology at the University of Belgrade in Serbia. At the beginning of the World War II, after suffering severe injuries, he moved to Zagreb where he spent the rest of his life bedridden.
