Scientists have coined the term "nutraceuticals" to describe any plant-based biochemical substances that positively affect physical condition and status. They promote health benefits and serve many purposes, such as acting as antioxidants, cancer inhibitors, hepatoprotectants, hypertensive inhibitors, and possessing antidiabetic and antidepressant properties, among other qualities. With these characteristics in mind, the authors describe how these nutraceuticals aid in the prevention and treatments of diseases.
