‘Sanaa Dal wrote her first book (Poisoned Love) at the age of 15, whilst still at high school. She was inspired by negative attitudes towards suicide and self-harm. The theme of her first book, which is fictional, follows the consequences wrongful anger can have. And more importantly, her work strongly focuses on coping mechanisms. Mechanisms that a large percentage of youths and young adults today resort to. Such as self-harm, substance abuse, and even dark humour to cope with any stress, guilt or trauma people go through.
