Tim Lee’s new book I Saw a Dozen Faces … and I Rocked Them All: The Diary of a Never Was chronicles the journey of a rock ‘n roll lifer who was part of the national independent music scene of the 1980s.
It’s a story of perseverance, belief, disappointment, rock and roll rebirth, and, most of all, fun.
Cool Dog Sound announces the release of a new non-fiction book titled I Saw a Dozen Faces … and I Rocked Them All: Diary of a Never Was written by Tim Lee was a ‘new wave journeyman’ who toured with the likes of Let’s Active, Swimming Pool Qs, and Marti Jones, as well as a founding member of the Windbreakers, Bark, Beat Temptation, and other projects.
In 300 pages, with over 50 photographs, plus extensive discography and index, Tim tells the story of a ‘never was’ who did it anyway: climbed in the van, drove the miles, loaded the gear, slept on the floors, counted the pennies.
All for that brief hour or so on stage that made it worth the effort.

Who the hell is Tim Lee? A never-was playing music well past his sell-by date, he was a member of the Windbreakers, who were part of the American independent music scene of the 1980s. He has made some three dozen records that you’ve likely never heard. His work has garnered awards from the Jackson (Mississippi) Independent Music Week and the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters. Chances are he has slept on your couch a time or two. He wrote a book about those adventures (the one in your hands). He currently lives in Knoxville, Tennessee, with his wife/band mate Susan Bauer Lee and their aged long-haired rescue basset hound, Sonny Boy.
