William Henry Hudson, known as W. H. Hudson, was born on August 4, 1841, in Quilmes, Argentina to Anglo-American parents. Hudson’s work was not limited to fiction; he penned many influential books on ornithology and the countryside, including ‘Argentine Ornithology’ (1888) and ‘British Birds’ (1895). His literary style is characterized by a lyrical prose that captures the magic and mystery of the natural world. In 1922, Hudson was honored by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds for his contributions to bird protection. He passed away on August 18, 1922, in London, leaving a legacy of over 40 books that continue to enchant readers and inspire conservationists. His work remains a testament to the beauty of the natural world and the importance of preserving it.
