Henry’s Empire, an historical novel, is the story of the life and times of Ernest Henry, an English adventurer who, at the height of England’s empire days, sought his fortune in Australia.
By the time he was 30, he’d made a fortune. Then lost the lot. Undeterred, he set out into the remote and dangerous north-west frontier of Queensland in search of new wealth.
Henry’s story is told by himself and by others he associated with in his search for that wealth.
Much of that story is based on the extensive records, journals and letters that Henry wrote during that period. It also relies on consultation of records of events of the time.
