You hear it all the time . . . ’I’m fine!’ ’We’re doing great!’ Sometimes, it’s true. A lot of times, it’s BS. Because no one likes to admit their lives are a mess.
Tales From a Broken Girl is me doing just that, admitting my life is one massive hot mess! But it’s also my way of cleaning it up instead of just sweeping it all under the rug.
These are the things that piss me off. These are the things that make me cry. But these are also the things that gave me hope and helped me move on from feeling ’broken’ to learning to live with the cracks. I hope you find something here that speaks to you.

Chris Dean writes from the heart of Indiana where they live with their husband, two dogs and too many cats to mention.Chris began writing poetry in 2018 as a way to make sense out of life’s ups and downs. They began sharing their work in 2022 to foster connections between other ’broken’ people and as a way to contribute to the community they discovered through in-person events. Their work has been featured online at Fevers Of the Mind, Cajun Mutt Press, The Raven’s Perch and Flying Island as well as multiple print anthologies. Their debut book of poetry, ’Tales From a Broken Girl, ’ was released in September of 2023 from Storeylines Press.
