War and the Future, subtitled “Italy, France, and Britain at War, ” was published in 1917. It contains first-hand observations and reflections on the long term impact and meaning of World War I. Wells examines the effects of warfare, especially of tank and aerial bombing, and discusses weapons control and the creation of a world state.
