Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil.Dr.h.c.mult. Holm Altenbach ist Professor für Technische Mechanik an der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen auf verschiedenen Gebieten der Kontinuumsmechanik (Plattentheorie, Kriechschädigungsmechanik, Mechanik der Komposite).
Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil.Dr.h.c. Johannes Altenbach ist Professor im Ruhestand. Er lehrte gleichfalls in Magdeburg. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte lagen unter anderem auf der Anwendung mathematischer Methoden in der Elastizitätstheorie und bei Flächentragwerken.
