The year 1921 was an epoch-making year in Chinese history. Many important events took place in the capital that year. The Changxindian Labor Remedial School, a workers’ school established by the early Communist Party, was officially opened, a workers’ club was established, and demonstrations were organized. Faculty members of eight schools, including Peking University, held strikes and marches to protest against the authorities’ arrears of funds. Foreigners coveted Chinese national treasures and wanted to take them for themselves. Huashang Electric Light Company finally expected to receive power generation equipment after the end of the European War, and the Shijingshan Power Plant was completed. The Village of Moshi Kou, which is adjacent to the power plant, started to receive electricity and became the first village in the capital to receive electricity…… All these have paved the way for a look back at the years a century ago. The times were chaotic and the society was in turmoil, but there were always some pioneers and doers who took up the mission and worked for the welfare of the country and the people. Electricity, as a new development of modern technology, brought a new atmosphere to the Village of Moshi Kou on the old camel bell road. The story begins with the construction of the Shijingshan Power Plant, which took over the villagers’ fields for the erection of poles. The villagers blocked the construction and demanded that Huashang Electric Light Company, the owner of the power plant, compensate the villagers for their losses. Shi Lyujin, the director, and Feng Shu, the General Manager of Huashang Electric Light Company, were besieged by the villagers in Defuji Teahouse. Director Duan of the Teahouse, worrying that the matter will be intensified, affecting the Teahouse, quietly sent a staff to invite Li Yaxuan, head of Moshi Kou Village and counselor of Zhili province for mediation. Li Yaxuan dissuaded the villagers and promised to negotiate with Huashang Company on behalf of the villagers to meet their demands. The village bully Zhao Er colluded with the antique trader Qian Chuanzi to destroy the electricity facilities and also attempted to blackmail a compensation amount. Shi Lyujin and Feng Shu negotiated with Li Yaxuan and agreed to pay the villagers the maximum amount of compensation and supply power to the whole village. Duan’s son, Duan Qiming, returned home after being injured by the police for participating in a demonstration. H wrote a contract for the negotiation between the two sides, and his talent was appreciated by Shi and Feng. Feng Shu was in shortage of funds to buy the national treasure Mao Gong Ding, which is in danger of being lost abroad. Li Yaxuan, with a sense of decency, advanced the compensation for villagers, thus relieving Feng Shu’s urgent need and ultimately leaving the national treasure in Chinese hands. Li Yaxuan, who has been working with Zhao Er and other people, was able to make Zhao Er’s delusions of wealth dashed by a combination of hard and soft tactics. Faced with the unfamiliar new things and the need for young people like Duan Qiming, Shi and Feng came up with the idea of cultivating talents and helping the village to run a school – to train more people who want to work for the country and the people. As a result, Duan Qiming was sponsored by Huashang Electric Light Company to study abroad. When the power plant was completed, Mo Shi Kou became the first village in the capital to receive electricity, and Li Yaxuan changed the name of the village from "Moshi Kou" to "Mo Shi Kou". A hundred years later, the old camel bell road is still winding, but modernization has become the theme here, and people are enjoying the new experience of life brought by electricity.
