MICHAEL ZEMEL, Ph.D., is a professor in the Departments of Nutrition and Medicine at the University of Tennessee and the Director of the Nutrition Institute at the university. He has published more than 130 research papers in such prestigious journals as the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of the American College of Nutrition, and the Journal of Nutrition. He discovered the calcium—weight loss connection, has received patents in this area, and his work has been featured in dozens of magazine articles as well as on national TV.
Coauthor BILL GOTTLIEB was the editor in chief of health books at Rodale and is the author of the national bestseller Alternative Cures. He writes for many major magazines.
