Margaret Oliphant Wilson Oliphant (4 April 1828 – 25 June 1897), was a Scottish novelist and historical writer, who usually wrote as Mrs. Oliphant. Her fictional works encompass ’domestic realism, the historical novel and tales of the supernatural’. “The Open Door”, with a sense of mystery and suspense pervading the whole narrative, this is a very unusual work. Due to brilliant depiction of scenes, the work was later adapted for dramas and films. In an intensely horrifying environment, the unfolding events flare the imagination of the reader.
