The Midwest has produced a robust literary heritage. Its authors have won half of the nation’s Nobel Prizes for Literature plus a significant number of Pulitzer Prizes. This volume explores the rich racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity of the region. Phillip A. Greasley is a retired Associate Professor, English; Dean, University Extension; and Associate Provost for University Engagement at the University of Kentucky. He has served as General Editor of the Dictionary of Midwestern Literature and has published widely on Midwestern writers, the Chicago Renaissance, and modern poetics.
