Harrison labeled himself and lived as a “quadra-schizoid” writer. Robert De Mott enjoyed a twenty-year friendship with the late Jim Harrison. De Mott is Edwin and Ruth Kennedy Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Ohio University, where he taught American literature for forty-five years, won many teaching awards, and published numerous books.
