Staying After School [EPUB ebook]
19 Students (For Real!) Have the Next What-If Word on Remarkable Fictional Teachers and Their Often Challenging Classes

Stöd
Remarkable teachers. Challenging classes. What if! Like his So You Think You Might Like to Teach, educator Robert Eidelbergs latest next word book, Staying After School, is about what goes into good instruction and true learning (and that odd couple relationship of teacher and student).
Schools out, but then its back in. And through a unique form and structure, Staying After School showcases more than a dozen school-set novels and films and the imaginative writing about them by nineteen of Eidelbergs student collaborators.
Here is a class-act assortment of what-ifs by college students who figuratively stayed after school in their special course, The Teacher and
Student in Literature, to creatively extrapolate from the literary works of such school book authors as Bel Kaufman, Evan Hunter, E. R. Braithwaite,
Frances Gray Patton, and Leo Rosten, along with major film director Richard Brooks

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

A former journalist, Robert Eidelberg served for nineteen and a half years as the chair of the English Department of William Cullen Bryant High School in New York City and a total of 32 years as a secondary school English teacher in the New York City public school system.

Upon “graduating” from Bryant, a Queens neighborhood high school, Mr. Eidelberg was an educational and editorial consultant and author for Amsco School Publications and a writing instructor at Audrey Cohen Metropolitan College of New York as well as at Queensborough Community College of the City University of New York.

For the past 20 years, Mr Eidelberg has been a college adjunct both supervising undergraduate and graduate student teachers in secondary English education and, on the campus of Brooklyn College of the City University of New York, supervising first-year and second-year probationary teachers in the national Teaching Fellows program. On the campus of Hunter College of the City University of New York, Mr. Eidelberg teaches as an adjunct in the English Department a special topics elective course on “The Teacher and Student in Literature, ” which he especially created for Hunter College in 2015.

As a working author with a fondness for somewhat lengthy subtitles for his now seven books, Mr. Eidelberg specializes in educational how-to “books with a built-in teacher.” STAYING AFTER SCHOOL is a 19-student co-authored companion book to Mr. Eidelberg’s 2013 career and instructional text SO YOU THINK YOU MIGHT LIKE TO TEACH. Along with his life partner of forty-four years and their Whippet, Chandler, Robert Eidelberg lives in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York.
