Shrabani Basu, geboren in Kalkutta, studierte in Dehli Geschichte und arbeitete ab 1983 für The Times in Bombay. 1987 wechselte sie nach London als Auslandskorrespondentin u.a. für The Telegraph, Kalkutta. Die Journalistin und Historikerin ist Autorin mehrerer Bücher über die britisch-indische Geschichte. Shrabani Basu lebt mit ihren Töchtern in London.
