Dr. Niklas Swanström is Co-founder and Director of the Institute for Security and Development Policy, Stockholm. He is also Research Fellow at Johns Hopkins University”s Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies as well as Editor of the China Eurasia Forum Quarterly, a quarterly publication on China and Eurasia. His main areas of expertise are conflict prevention, conflict management, regional cooperation, narcotics trafficking, as well as Chinese foreign policy and security in Northeast Asia. He received his PhD in Peace and Conflict Studies from Uppsala University, Sweden.Sofia K. Ledberg is PhD candidate at the Department of Government, Uppsala University, Sweden. Her research focuses on force modernization, and the foreign and security policy of the People”s Republic of China. She teaches courses on International Relations in Northeast Asia and Chinese security policy at Uppsala University. She has also been a student at Beijing College of Economics in China and the School of Oriental and African Studies at London University, UK.Alec Forss is Junior Fellow at the Institute for Security and Development Policy, Sweden. He is the author of “Unofficial mediation” in The Oxford International Encyclopedia of Peace, edited by Nigel Young (New York: Oxford University Press, 2010). He holds an MA in International Studies from the Department of Peace and Conflict Research, Uppsala University, Sweden.
